Por lo cual estoy seguro de que ni la muerte, ni la vida, ni ángeles, ni principados, ni potestades, ni lo presente, ni lo por venir, ni lo alto, ni lo profundo, ni ninguna otra cosa creada nos podrá separar del amor de Dios, que es en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro (Romanos 8:37-39)
Continuos son los sufrimientos a los que te tienes que enfrentar en tu vida. Muchas son las aflicciones del justo (salmo 34:19) En este mundo tienes aflicción, estás cargado y trabajado. La enfermedad azota tu vida. Has perdido a un ser querido. Ves próxima la muerte. Te indignas por las injusticias del mundo, hay guerras absurdas, hambre, miseria, destrucción de la familia, persecuciones religiosas. Te consume la ansiedad o la depresión. Toda la creación gime a una contigo de dolor. Tienes miedo del futuro. Pesan tus pecados antiguos en tu corazón. Temes defraudar a Dios. ¡Horrenda cosa es caer en manos del Dios vivo! (Hebreos 10:31) Mi vida anterior repleta de pecados me aleja de Dios. Miedo tengo de presentarme ante el tribunal de Cristo con mis manos manchadas.
Todas esas tribulaciones, todos esos pecados, todos esos miedos, ansiedades e inseguridades palidecen ante el Hijo de Dios. Cristo, el Mesías esperado, el Siervo sufriente de Dios, llevó todo lo malo, cada pecado, en su cuerpo sobre la Cruz. Él llevó la enfermedad que te aflige, sufrió el dolor que lastima. Su cuerpo fue molido por el pecado que cometiste y herido fue por tu rebelión. Él que no conoció pecado, por ti se hizo pecado, para que fueses hecho justo delante de Dios. Él, que era rico se hizo pobre, para que tú con tu pobreza fueras rico. Él sabe el dolor que sientes en tu enfermedad. Él sabe el miedo que tienes de enfrentarte a la muerte. Él conoce tu ansiedad. Él sabe lo que es perder a un ser querido. Porque el Hijo de Dios, siendo en forma de Dios e igual a Dios, se hizo hombre y por amor murió de forma cruel y humillante en la Cruz para experimentar en su propia carne cada una de tus aflicciones. Cristo te acompaña en cada tribulación porque sabe lo que estás sintiendo mejor que nadie. Se hace real el salmo 34 cuando el salmista afirmaba:
Cercano está el Señor a los quebrantados de corazón; y salva a los contritos de espíritu. Muchas son las aflicciones del justo, pero de todas ellas le librará el Señor.
Él pagó con su sangre la deuda que tú generaste al transgredir la ley de Dios. Fue el sacrificio perfecto por tus pecados. Él, por medio de su sangre, te ha reconciliado con el Padre. Cristo te dice: tus pecados han sido perdonados, ve en paz. El Padre ya no mira tu sucia justicia, no mira tus faltas, sino que en ti ve a su amado Hijo en la Cruz, satisfaciendo la justicia que tú merecías por puro amor.

Mas al tercer día resucitó. Dios no dejó que su santo viera corrupción. Dios levantó a Jesús, por cuanto era imposible que fuera retenido por la muerte (Hechos 2:24) Cristo destruyó por medio de la muerte al que tenía el imperio de la muerte, esto es, al diablo, y libró a todos los que por el temor de la muerte estaban en servidumbre (Hebreos 2:14-15) En Cristo se cumplió la promesa de Génesis 3 de que el hijo de la mujer pisotearía la cabeza de la serpiente, del maligno Dragón, de Satanás.
Dios no creó el mundo con muerte y dolor. Estos son el resultado del pecado. Por un hombre, Adán, entró la muerte en el mundo, pasando a todos los hombres, también por un hombre entró en el mundo la resurrección de los muertos. En Adán todos mueren mas en Cristo todos serán vivificados (1 Corintios 15:21-22) Cristo murió para resucitar y derrotar a la muerte en su terreno, resucitando. Es la primicia de los que durmieron.
Él está reinando en el cielo hasta poner a todos los enemigos que te separan de Dios, el dolor, el pecado y la muerte, por estrado debajo de sus pies, es decir, hasta eliminarlos completamente. Ni el dolor, ni las pérdidas, ni las enfermedades, ni siquiera la muerte es capaz de separarte de aquel que las derrotó aplastando su cabeza. Has sido sellado como hijo de Dios en tu bautismo, en agua y en espíritu. Tienes en tu frente la marca del Cordero que quitó los pecados del mundo. Por ese sello que te separa de lo inmundo, las aflicciones que ahora sufres no son comparables con la gloria venidera que habrá de manifestarse en el tiempo venidero. En el mundo tendréis aflicción; pero confiad, Jesús ha vencido al mundo
Y así la muerte y el Hades serán lanzados al lago de fuego tras el juicio final. La derrota de la muerte es cierta. En la nueva creación enjugará Dios toda lágrima de los ojos de ellos; y ya no habrá muerte, ni habrá más llanto, ni clamor, ni dolor (Apocalipsis 21:4)
Esa nueva creación ya ha comenzado hoy, aquí. Aquí sois reino de Dios y sabemos que ya no hay temor en tu corazón. Aunque tus ojos vean lágrimas, aunque tu cuerpo sienta debilidad y aunque el mundo parezca desmoronarse, la promesa permanece: nada podrá separarte del amor de Dios que es en Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor. Espera en Él, porque aquel que comenzó la buena obra en ti la llevará hasta el día perfecto en que verás su rostro y vivirás para siempre en su presencia, sin dolor, pecado ni muerte.

Christ, Our Victory
Therefore I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The sufferings you must face in this life are many and continuous. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous” (Psalm 34:19). In this world you have trouble; you are burdened and weary. Sickness strikes your life. You have lost someone you love. You see death approaching. You are troubled by the injustices of this world: senseless wars, hunger, misery, the destruction of the family, and religious persecution. Anxiety or depression consumes you. All creation groans together with you in pain. You fear the future. Your past sins weigh heavily on your heart. You are afraid of disappointing God. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31). My former life, filled with sins, separates me from God. I fear standing before the judgment seat of Christ with my hands stained.
All those troubles, all those sins, all those fears, anxieties, and insecurities fade before the Son of God. Christ, the promised Messiah, the suffering Servant of God, carried everything evil, every sin, in His body on the Cross. He carried the sickness that troubles you; He suffered the pain that hurts you. His body was broken because of the sins you committed, and He was wounded because of your rebellion. He who knew no sin became sin for you, so that you might become the righteousness of God. He who was rich became poor, so that through His poverty you might become rich.
He knows the pain you feel in your sickness. He knows the fear you have of facing death. He knows your anxiety. He knows what it is like to lose someone you love. For the Son of God, being in the form of God and equal with God, became man and, because of love, died a cruel and humiliating death on the Cross to experience in His own flesh every one of your afflictions.
Christ walks with you through every trial because He knows what you are feeling better than anyone else. The words of Psalm 34 become real when the psalmist says:
“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
(Psalm 34:18-19)
He paid with His blood the debt you created by breaking God’s law. He was the perfect sacrifice for your sins. Through His blood, He has reconciled you with the Father. Christ says to you: “Your sins are forgiven; go in peace.” The Father no longer looks at your imperfect righteousness or your failures. Instead, He sees in you His beloved Son on the Cross, fulfilling the justice you deserved, out of pure love.
Rejoice, because your Savior has come to rescue you. The Spirit of God…
But on the third day He rose again. God did not allow His Holy One to see corruption. God raised Jesus from the dead, because it was impossible for Him to be held by death:
“Whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.”
(Acts 2:24)
Christ destroyed through His death the one who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and He freed all those who were held in slavery through the fear of death:
“Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
(Hebrews 2:14-15)
In Christ, the promise of Genesis 3 was fulfilled: the Son of the woman would crush the head of the serpent, the evil dragon, Satan.
God did not create the world with death and pain. These are the result of sin. Through one man, Adam, death entered the world and passed to all people. But also through one Man came the resurrection of the dead:
“For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”
(1 Corinthians 15:21-22)
Christ died in order to rise again and defeat death on its own ground, by His resurrection. He is the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
He is reigning in heaven until He places every enemy that separates you from God—pain, sin, and death—under His feet, meaning until He completely destroys them. Neither pain, nor loss, nor sickness, not even death, can separate you from the One who defeated them by crushing their head.
You have been sealed as a child of God in your baptism, with water and the Spirit. You carry on your forehead the mark of the Lamb who took away the sins of the world. Because of this seal that separates you from what is unclean, the sufferings you experience now cannot be compared with the glory that will be revealed in the time to come.
“In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33)
And so death and Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire after the final judgment. The defeat of death is certain. In the new creation:
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”(Revelation 21:4)
That new creation has already begun today, here. Here you are the kingdom of God, and we know that there is no longer fear in your heart.
Although your eyes may see tears, although your body may feel weakness, and although the world may appear to be falling apart, the promise remains: nothing can separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Wait on Him, because the One who began the good work in you will complete it until the perfect day when you will see His face and live forever in His presence, without pain, sin, or death.
May the Lord bless you and protect you.
May the Lord smile upon you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace.”
